Adirondack Biking at Whiteface Mountain, NY

The Lake Clear Lodge  ( www.lodgeonlakeclear.com ) is only 45 minutes from the Olympic Mountain and an incredible mountain biking experience.

Most people don't consider themselves a downhill type of bike rider.  It would be a shame to exclude yourself from a very rewarding sport because of preconceived notions.  Downhill riding simply puts an emphasis on braking instead of pedaling.  Gravity riding can make a better biker out of anyone.  The pros at Whiteface have put much effort into making the mountain friendly for the beginner and the seasoned veteran.  Depending on your skill level you may take the gondola to the top or take a ride in a 6x6 military truck part of the way up.
The best part of embarking on your adventure from The Lake Clear Lodge is the scenic roads that await your travels.  You will see all three sides of Whiteface Mountain and enjoy very little traffic.  Taking the back way to Whiteface mountain also brings you to the entrance to the memorial highway.  Memorial highway is the only road in the Adirondacks that ends at the top of a mountain, the fifth highest in New York state.
